I’ve been very intentional over the past 5 years (specifically the last 18 months) to leveling up my mindset, life philosophy, and broadening my perspective as a means to heighten my fulfillment, contentment, and inner peace. And while I will always be a work in progress… and always under construction… I am grateful for the progress I’ve made. Honestly, it’s been life changing.
Below are 12 frameworks that I’ve found the most helpful (and liberating) in my journey.
NOTE: I have not mastered any of this stuff (and most likely never will)… I still struggle with and am challenged by these concepts on a daily basis!
- I strive to live in the present moment as consistently as possible instead of getting distracted by the past or anxious about the future.
- I aim to eliminate complaining, making excuses, and blaming others and focus solely on my own effort and attitude.
- I value the process (the work) over the outcome (the result). I don’t attach my self-worth to achievement.
- I allow myself to feel how I feel with no shame or guilt and I am constantly recognizing and regulating my emotions.
- I no longer play the comparison game, feel the need for external validation, or need other people’s approval.
- I fully accept reality but find power in knowing that it’s not what happens that’s most critical… but it’s my perception and response to what happens.
- I acknowledge that I can’t predict the future, but find strength in knowing I will be able to handle whatever life throws my way.
- I learn from people who dream big, embrace challenges, and don’t believe in limitations. People that force me to stretch physically, mentally, and emotionally.
- I embrace my flaws, imperfections, and weaknesses (and look at them as opportunities for growth). I am striving for progress, not perfection.
- I give myself grace and compassion when I mess up (which happens quite frequently).
- I do the best I can, with what I have, wherever I am. Period. That’s all that matters. I let everything else go.
- I do not let the Outer World (events, circumstances, what people say/do) dictate my Inner World (my attitude, mindset, and perspective).
