I’m 50 years old.

I know, I know… I look 35.

But I’ve been around the sun 50 times and here’s 50 lessons I’ve learned:

  1. Relationships matter more than achievements.
  2. Your habits are ore important than your goals.
  3. Consistency beats intensity.
  4. Discipline outlasts motivation.
  5. Confidence is earned through preparation.
  6. You always choose how you respond.
  7. Comparison can undermine joy.
  8. Your health (mental & physical) is an asset.
  9. Sleep is a performance enhancer.
  10. Presence is the greatest gift you can give.
  11. You only control your effort and attitude.
  12. Listen more than you speak.
  13. Your reputation is built one interaction at a time.
  14. Integrity isn’t situational.
  15. Kindness and toughness can coexist.
  16. The best leaders ask better questions.
  17. Ego is expensive.
  18. Humility opens doors that arrogance never will.
  19. Saying “I don’t know” is a strength.
  20. Feedback is a gift—even when it stings.
  21. Every day won’t be your best day.
  22. Aim to raise your floor more, not your ceiling.
  23. Small improvements compound over time.
  24. Your environment influences your behavior.
  25. You become what you repeatedly practice.
  26. Comfort rarely leads to growth.
  27. Hard conversations build good relationships.
  28. Patience isn’t passive—it’s powerful.
  29. Confidence mixed with humility is attractive.
  30. Worrying never improves tomorrow.
  31. Being busy isn’t the same as being productive.
  32. Focus is a superpower.
  33. Reasonable minds may differ.
  34. Forgiveness is a gift for you (not them).
  35. Be curious before you’re critical.
  36. Your children are always watching.
  37. Your example is louder than your advice.
  38. Perfection is the enemy of progress.
  39. Success without fulfillment is failure.
  40. Protect your attention and energy.
  41. Make your Next Play your best play.
  42. Everything you do matters.
  43. Excellence is built in the ordinary moments.
  44. Give people your attention—not just your time.
  45. The best investment you can make is in yourself.
  46. Have short term urgency & long term patience.
  47. Standards are more reliable than feelings.
  48. Today will always be over tomorrow.
  49. Be the most open-minded person you know.
  50. Always return your shopping cart properly.

Some of these lessons were taught, some were caught, but most were learned the hard way—by making boneheaded mistakes, poor decisions, and allowing my ego, insecurities, fear, and impatience to run the show instead of my head and my heart.

I plan to live, model, and apply these 50 lessons to the next 50 years of my life… and make my next 50 years my best 50 years.
